Meet Megan

Megan has served on the Bend City Council since January 2023, bringing to the Council her lifelong commitment to public service and a proven ability to forge practical solutions to community challenges. As a community activist and leader, businesswoman, and Latina, Megan offers a unique perspective on the Council.

After graduating from college, Megan served in the Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa, where she was a regional healthcare leader and collaborated on a multi-village effort to encourage young women to stay in school. Upon returning home, she worked on national and state campaigns to elect progressive candidates and served as the lead for the Sierra Club’s Clean Cars Campaign.

Transitioning to the private sector, Megan became Vice President and part owner of a company that co-developed solar energy projects powering over 100,000 homes and built an award-winning, sustainable urban infill residential neighborhood.

Megan moved to Bend to accept a position as the Central Oregon Child Care Accelerator, where she led a regional effort to increase affordable, accessible, and quality childcare spots. Currently, as a Forward Planning Manager with Hayden Homes, Megan focuses on creating affordable housing for working families in the Pacific Northwest.

Her leadership extends to serving as the City Council’s liaison to the Environment and Climate Committee and as a member of the Council’s Community Building Subcommittee. Megan has also served on the board of directors of the Deschutes Children’s Foundation.

Megan’s spouse Greg, whom she met in Senegal during their Peace Corps service, is a lifelong educator now working in the Bend-LaPine Schools. They have two daughters, aged 13 and 9, who attend Bend public schools. In her free time, Megan enjoys exploring the outdoors through skiing, paddle boarding, camping, hiking with her family, and long trail runs.
